How to Become a Windlass
Windlasses is open to female sailors who would like to improve their sailing
skills through racing. For your safety and our insurance purposes, in order to
be accepted into our Orientation Program, you must be able to do the
following:
1. Sail a basic course which includes sailing into the wind,
tacking and jibing.
2. Upright a capsized pram
3. Swim from the
capsized pram to the safety boat, climb up the ladder on the back of the boat
and get into the safety boat.
Windlasses season begins the first Thursday
after school starts and ends the Thursday before it ends. Orientation for new
member candidates is the first 6 weeks of our season. Successful passing of our
Orientation Program is required in order to become a member. Those who do not
pass will be given a full refund of their membership fee.
